Our firm’s greatest commitment is to support our local community. Our native city, Concord, has been very good to us and we feel it our duty to give back to this wonderful city. Providing safe, quality housing to those most in need meets with our deepest compassion toward supporting our hometown. 

The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH), in collaboration Warrenstreet Architects, JH Spain and a wide network of community partners embarked on a bold effort, combining philanthropy and preservation at its finest. Working together, a historic, 2,500 square-foot, 2-story 1880 Victorian home, located in the downtown historic district of Concord was converted, into four, one-bedroom residential apartment units. The renovation clearly enhances the character of this notable property, and most importantly, it enhances the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents, offering them the comfort and dignity of quality housing. 

JH Spain served as General Contractor for all new heating, plumbing, electrical and fire protection systems installation. We built out four new residential kitchens and bathrooms creating 4 very livable apartments. To the highest degree possible, the interior renovation preserved the original window positions, doors, trim work, marble fireplace surrounds, built in cabinetry and the grand staircase. The exterior clapboard and “gingerbread” trim were prepped and repainted in a design color palette. The approximate five-month renovation process concluded in the Fall of 2019 allowing for resident occupancy in the cold winter months of 2020.

JH Spain is pleased to be named one of CCEH’s Arches of Support which include those organizations that provide recurring grant funding to CCEH or provide invaluable in-kind services at levels of $10,000 or more.
